Some like to poke fun at Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, for his consistent stream of warnings about the potential for a nuclear war involving Iran. I take the guy very seriously for three reasons:
- He has nukes – even if he doesn’t admit it.
- He has the best covert operatives in the world – Mossad.
- His nation is well known for using diversionary tactics before/during/after/to-avoid war.
So while his message in this speech isn’t much different than many of his speeches, I take special note when the Israeli media posts short videos like this one today.
My reasoning is simple… I think Netanyahu will warn his people of the potential of an impending action. Reading between the lines this could be that – or it could just be another repeat performance.
In any case it is further evidence of Israel’s position on the current state of affairs with its enemies and Israel’s growing lack of confidence in the American government’s ability to protect Israel’s interests.
In other words – no matter whether Netanyahu is right or wrong – as long as he feels that Iran and their allies are an existential threat, the rest of us should take heed and prepare to avoid the fallout (literally) from anyone’s historic mistake.
